Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride

We congratulate Maruf Sarkar for winning the Research Culture Photograph competition, issued by Action Research on Research Culture, Bennett Institute for Public Policy. What follows is a few words by Professor Rachel Oliver, initially published at https://www.instagram.com/p/CsgUSPaIcre/.

The COVID-19 pandemic had an enormous impact on many graduate students, making completing a PhD an even bigger challenge. Our Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride team pulled together to help our graduate students get their projects back on track. The photograph shows the first student to submit his thesis after the end of social distancing regulations, with Abhiram Gundimeda about to finalise his submission. Everybody around him is grabbing a photo of this key moment because we're all so proud of his achievement.
