Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride

Professor Rachel Oliver has been named one of the Women in Engineering Society's Top 50 Women in Engineering 2020.

This year's awards focus on women working in sustainability, and Rachel is being recognised for her work on sustainable lighting based on nitride light emitting diodes (LEDs).  In particular, Rachel is proud to be a founder of PoroTech ( who are developing novel porous nitride materials to improve the efficiency of nitride LEDs and other devices.

We conduct world leading research into nitride based III-V semiconductors: material quality, characterisation and device development.

We are passionate about education and outreach! If you would like support for an education project then please .
